Sein und Tun
Beate Gatschelhofer

Cables. Sockets. Basic technical requirements that are also present in the exhibition space. The translation into other materials and the resulting removal of functionality reduces the original form of the objects to the absurd in that technical use falls by the wayside. The installation plays with parameters of imitation and appropriation, randomness and staging, principles of disorder and order. The photographs on display form the interface to the public space and open up a humorous critical perspective on the technologization of our environment and energy resources.

Beate Gatschelhofer studied at the University of Art and Design Linz – Plastic Conceptions/Ceramics and since 2021 Sculpture – transmedial space.

Her work „Sein und Tun" was exhibited at University of Art and Design Linz in the context of BestOFF 2022.

Tiefkühlhaus

The community freezing unit was built in 1962 by the Jennersdorf freezing community and used as such until January 2023. After that, Josef Csuk bought the building to preserve it and use it for art projects in the future.
